The Technical Advisory Group works to assist in the communication
and exchange of information between groups, and to bridge the
internal capacity and mandates of other Coalition-SGSL working
groups. The group determined that a more practical and useful tool
would be to develop a specifications document of existing portals,
sources of GIS information, data, and so on, so as to avoid
duplication and assist member groups with their mapping
efforts.
In fiscal year 2007-2008 the group was key in helping the
Coalition-SGSL create the
Regional Sustainability Atlas. The objective of this
work is to help network the members by using a visual geographic
data sharing tool that can be easily used by everyone and is freely
accessible through Google Earth. Key components that the group
would like to see flourish on the Atlas are land use, aquatic
resources, NGO and socio-economic activities and issues...all of
this to facilitate Integrated Planning and Management. Currently,
the Atlas is home to several years of data for the
Community Aquatic Monitoring Program
(CAMP).
