Coastal Erosion Annotated Bibliography

During the winter of 2006, the Coalition was awarded a contract by Environment Canada and the National Program of Action (NPA) to create an annotated bibliography consisting of all the past and present COASTAL EROSION research studies conducted in Atlantic Canada and Gaspsie, Quebec.

Sustainable Communities Initiative Project (SCI)

The Sustainable Communities Initiatives Program (SCI), is a combined initiative between Natural Resources Canada, and other federal, provincial and local governments whose mandate is to bring on-line decision making tools to Aboriginal, rural and northern communities in Canada. The program provides the opportunity for communities to become equipped with geospatial tools, useful for monitoring natural resources for better management practices. The Coalition Sustainable Communities Initiative Project elaborated in partnership with NRCan as of January 2002 now includes six communities. The communities of Miramichi (MREAC), Bathurst (BSDP), Tracadie(CEPA), Badeque(BBEMA), Montague(SEA), and the Magdalene Islands (ZIP) all benefit from the help of the Coalition GIS Mentor, Inuk Simard, in their projects to become more sustainable. More communities might add themselves to this project in the following months depending on funding and further agreements with NRCan (SCI).
