Sustainability Scholarship Fund
The Southern Gulf of St. Lawrence Coalition on Sustainability
(Coalition-SGSL) is currently enlisting the financial support of
the business community, and individuals, to help ensure the long
term viability of its Scholarship Fund.
The Sustainability Scholarship provides funding to university
students who are carrying out sustainability related research in
the Southern Gulf of St. Lawrence. To date, this research has
included the role of mushrooms in dune systems, piping plover
predation, invasive aquatic species, fish assemblages, fish
prey-predator anaylsis, mussel and oyster aquaculture, primary
education and its link with identifying environmental problems, and
the total economic value of natural capital. This research has
involved a variety of sites in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince
Edward Island and Quebec.
2011 Scholarship Winner
This year's scholarship recipient is Alice Roy-Bolduc from the
Université de Montréal ($5000).
Alice prepared a vidéo presentation of her research subject for the
Coalition-SGSL members at the Annual General Meeting in Cap-aux-Meules, QC on June
17, 2011.
2010 Scholarship
Winner
This year’s scholarship recipient is Gabrielle Beaulieu from the
Dalhousie University ($5000).

General Meeting in June of 2010. Gabrielle’s research is on the
piping plover and is done in collaboration with various
universities, communities and Parks Canada.
